Dazy Returns with Two New Singles — “BIG Problem” and “Gravity” Arrive as Tour with Sleaford Mods Looms

Dazy has dropped his first new songs of 2026. James Goodson, the Richmond-based musician and publicist who records solo as Dazy, has released two tracks — “BIG Problem” and “Gravity” — that push his fuzz-pop sensibilities toward a more synth-forward, indie-dance register.

Goodson’s Dazy began as a pandemic-era solo project and has steadily become a reliable source of concise, hook-forward songs. Over the past year he put out the Bad Penny EP, the single “Pay No Mind (To The Signs),” and a collaboration with Militarie Gun titled “Tall People Don’t Live Long.” Now, as he prepares to join Sleaford Mods on the road, these new tracks expand the palette without abandoning the songwriting at the core of the project.

I think at the end of the day, I pretty much make singer-songwriter music. It’s usually just simple chord progressions and vocal melodies, but I like the idea of taking those fundamentals and finding ways to bend the presentation. I feel like the more I try to change things up, the more I sort of discover the true constants of my own songwriting, the things that make it sound like me whether it’s in the context of big distorted guitars or samples — or hopefully anything.

Those lines from Goodson’s press notes underscore what you hear on the two new songs: familiar melodic instincts wearing slightly different clothes. “BIG Problem” and “Gravity” lean into sleeker synth textures than much of Dazy’s earlier work, and there’s a playful melodic device that sounds suspiciously like a melodica poking through the mix. It’s a modest mutation of his approach, one that tests how far the project’s hook-first songwriting can stretch without losing its center.
