Welcome Strawberry have quietly released Floral Arrangements, a low-key EP that reframes last years Desperate Flower through a smaller, acoustic-adjacent lens.

“an acoustic companion piece.”
Its a tidy collection of odds and ends: a new song, a remix drawn from Desperate Flower, and a cover of a 2020 track from their Bay Area contemporaries Aluminum, As Big As You Are As Big As You Are.
The EP closes with an older demo, and when the big guitars kick in—enough to startle the bands cat—it underlines that Welcome Strawberry can still conjure sudden, dreamlike jolts. The first three tracks trade the LPs broader washes for closer, quieter textures where Cyrus VandenBerghes melodies and arrangements feel more exposed and, in some moments, more immediate.
Floral Arrangements is out now on Cherub Dream. VandenBerghe also plays in Sloome, who released the album Blue Fire Doom just last month. As a companion piece this EP doesnt so much compete with Desperate Flower as offer an alternate room—one that highlights how the bands songs hold up when the amp is turned down and the subtleties come forward.
