6ix9ine Draws Backlash After Saying He’d Abort a Girl During His Girlfriend’s Gender Reveal

6ix9ine sparked controversy at a gender reveal party by joking that his girlfriend’s pregnancy would be aborted if the baby were a girl.

Tekashi 6ix9ine managed to turn a gender reveal party into another round of controversy, this time by making a blunt abortion remark about his girlfriend’s pregnancy while streamers looked on.

The 30-year-old rapper, born Daniel Hernandez and formerly known as Tekashi 6ix9ine, made the comments during the event after being asked about the unborn child’s sex. In a clip from the livestream shared by TMZ, he says, “If it’s not a boy, it’s an a-bor-tion.”

The people around him, including Adin Ross, Clavicular and N3ON, seem thrown by the comment and respond with awkward laughter before 6ix9ine walks them over to his girlfriend, Aliday Alter. When they ask Alter what she thinks the baby is, she laughs and says it’s a girl. 6ix9ine then repeats the abortion line, insisting she’s on the same page.

“She’s down,” he says. “She’s open-minded.”

That prediction turned out not to matter. Later in the party, the couple revealed they are expecting a baby boy, a detail that softened none of the grim optics around the exchange itself.

Alter had first announced her pregnancy in April, posting a beach photo in a cheetah-print dress that showed off her baby bump. She and 6ix9ine, according to TMZ, have been dating for about a year. “My world is about to change,” she wrote on Instagram.

The episode adds another strange chapter to 6ix9ine’s already messy public life. He is reportedly already a father to a 12-year-old daughter with ex-girlfriend Sara Molina and another daughter, 7, with Marlayna M. In January, he turned himself in to begin a three-month sentence for violating the terms of his supervised release in connection with his racketeering case. Authorities said the Brooklyn native was found with cocaine and MDMA, and he also admitted to assaulting a man who allegedly taunted him about cooperating with authorities during a trip to a Florida mall.

Tekashi 6ix9ine is seen during the second half of a game between the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers at Kaseya Center on November 12, 2025 in Miami, Florida.
