Riley Green Joins ‘The Voice’ Season 30 as Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine Return

Riley Green is taking a turn in the coach’s chair. The country singer announced on social media Saturday, May 9, that he will join season 30 of NBC’s The Voice, stepping into the competition series alongside previously announced coaches Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine.

Green broke the news just before he was set to play Ameris Bank Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, Georgia, on Saturday. He’s currently in the middle of his Cowboy As It Gets arena tour across North America, which makes the timing feel less like a career pivot than another sign of how far his profile has climbed in the last few years.

“I guess y’all can start calling me coach… see ya this fall. @nbcthevoice #thevoice,” Green wrote in the caption of his Instagram announcement.

His post includes a voicemail from Clarkson, who greets him with the kind of polite familiarity that turns immediately playful. “That is officially the last time we’re gonna use each other’s full name ’cause we’re not tools,” she says, before welcoming him to the show. “But we’ve never officially met. I’m super stoked to coach alongside you.” Clarkson also calls herself a “superfan” and makes it clear that admiration won’t soften the competition, then reveals a custom Voice coach chair decorated with duck calls. “I think you’re gonna need the practice because Kelly’s gonna whoop that ass,” she says.

Carson Daly also chimed in beneath the post, writing, “Welcome to the fam!! Can’t wait to hang! You drink right? Pls God say yes.”

Green arrives at The Voice with a solid streak already behind him. He has earned four No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, including “Worst Way” and “You Look Like You Love Me,” his collaboration with Ella Langley. He’s also picked up multiple CMA and ACM Awards over the course of his rise, the kind of résumé that makes a coaching gig less of a stunt and more of an industry landing spot.

That momentum will be on display again at the ACM Awards on May 17, where Green is slated to perform. He’s nominated for male artist of the year, album of the year for Don’t Mind If I Do (Deluxe), artist-songwriter of the year, and music event of the year for “Don’t Mind If I Do,” featuring Langley.

The move to television also follows Green’s acting debut in April on the CBS series Marshals, where he plays Garrett, a former Navy SEAL who shows up in Montana while carrying the sort of personal baggage the show has him trying to leave behind. For now, though, the bigger headline is simpler: the Worst Way singer is heading into fall television as one of the new faces of The Voice.

Season 30 of The Voice airs this fall on NBC and streams on Peacock. Levine’s contestant, Alexia Jayy, won season 29 in April 2025.
