ATARASHII GAKKO!, Awich, Hitsujibungaku and LANA will perform at Billboard Japan and Spotify’s Women in Music EQUAL STAGE in Tokyo on June 9.

Spotify and Billboard Japan are bringing four of Japan’s most visible women artists together for a June 9 concert in Tokyo, with ATARASHII GAKKO!, Awich, LANA and Hitsujibungaku set to perform at SGC Hall Ariake as part of MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN WEEK.
The event, billed as Women In Music – EQUAL STAGE, is being framed as a one-night crossover between two programs built around the same basic idea: make more room for women in the music industry, and do it in public, with actual stages attached. Billboard Japan’s Women In Music began in 2022 and spotlights women it says empower society through their work, while Spotify’s EQUAL, launched in 2021, has been positioned as a global effort to expand opportunities for women artists and creators and provide ongoing support. This Tokyo show folds those initiatives into a single lineup that cuts across pop, rap and rock without trying to force them into one tidy category.
There is a certain industry logic to the bill. ATARASHII GAKKO! have built a profile through dance-pop that already travels easily across borders. Awich and LANA come in from different points in Japanese rap, while Hitsujibungaku add the guitar-driven counterweight. The point is not that these artists are alike. It is that their visibility now sits comfortably inside a major institutional event, which says something about where women-led Japanese pop culture is being placed in 2026.
TV Asahi announcer Chie Honma will host the night as MC. The concert is one part of MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN WEEK, the run of programming leading up to MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN, which bills itself as the country’s largest international awards ceremony. More information about MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN WEEK can be found here.
