Meghan Patrick Cancels Remaining 2026 Tour Dates After Pregnancy Announcement

Meghan Patrick has pulled the plug on the rest of her 2026 touring run, beginning in June, as she and husband Mitchell Tenpenny prepare to welcome their first child together, a daughter, later this year.

The country singer-songwriter, whose Country Airplay top 20 single “Golden Child” remains her best-known hit, addressed the decision directly in a social media video, framing the cancellation as a choice tied to health rather than momentum. The note arrived with a familiar kind of tension in country music, where touring is often treated less like a job than a test of endurance.

“This is hard to say, but I need to be honest with myself and with y’all… I was wrong. When I found out I was pregnant, my first thought after the excitement was, ‘How is this going to affect my career?’ I was determined not to slow down. I thought I had to prove that pregnancy wouldn’t change anything and that I could push through no matter what,” she said in her statement.

After speaking with her doctor, family, team and Tenpenny, Patrick said she had come to a different conclusion. “But over the last few weeks, after a lot of conversations with my doctor, my family, my team, and Mitchell, I’ve realized I was wrong to think that I had anything to prove. More importantly, I’ve realized my health and my baby girl’s well-being have to come first. So with a very heavy heart, I’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of my shows for the year, starting in June.”

Patrick said she plans to reschedule the Golden Child tour dates when she is able, and refunds for headlining shows will be available at point of purchase. The announcement also drew a line between the realities of pregnancy and the demands of a road schedule that had largely been set before she knew she was expecting.

“A lot of this tour was booked before I knew I was pregnant, and before I understood just how physically and mentally difficult this season would be. Between complications, hospital visits, exhaustion, and the anxiety that comes with experiencing a previous miscarriage, I’ve had to take a hard look at what’s truly important right now,” she wrote. “I’ve spent years believing I had to constantly push harder, sacrifice more, and prove myself to deserve a place in this industry. But I don’t want to contribute to the idea that women have to run themselves into the ground to succeed. Right now, being the best mother I can be matters more than anything else. I also recognize that right now many people are struggling to pay the bills, put food on the table, and gas in your car, let alone have something left over at the end of the month to let loose and have some fun. I am not comfortable taking your money or time to give you a show that I feel does not meet the high standard I have set and maintained for years when it comes to my live show.”

Even with the tour on hold, Patrick said she is still writing and making music, and that she feels she is working on “some of the best songs of my life right now.” She thanked fans for their support and patience, adding, “I promise I’ll be back when the time is right, and it will be worth the wait.”

The pause comes after a strong year of industry recognition. Earlier this year, Golden Child was nominated for country album of the year at the Juno Awards and for album of the year at the Canadian Country Music Association Awards. Patrick was also one of six artists featured in this year’s New Faces of Country Music Show during the annual Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, a signal that her profile had been rising even before this decision forced a reset.

For now, though, the road is being replaced by something less glamorous and more difficult to market: recovery, pregnancy and the uneven logistics of building a career around live shows while refusing to treat the body as expendable.
