From Ashes to New Claim First Radio No. 1 as “Drag Me” Tops Mainstream Rock Airplay

From Ashes to New have reached a milestone in their decade-plus run: “Drag Me” climbed to No. 1 on the May 16-dated Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, the Pennsylvania rock band’s first leader on a Billboard radio survey.

The ascent arrives on the group’s 13th entry to the Mainstream Rock Airplay tally. They first registered on the chart in 2016 with “Through It All,” which peaked at No. 6 and served as the first of seven top-10s. Until now, their best showing was last year’s “Barely Breathing,” featuring Against the Current, which reached No. 2 in 2024.

Industry-wise this season has produced a crop of first-time radio leaders: six acts have earned their inaugural No. 1 on Mainstream Rock Airplay so far in 2026, following 10 such breakthroughs across all of 2025. “Drag Me” displaced Dayseeker’s “Crawl Back to My Coffin” after one week at the summit, underscoring how volatile and opportunity-rich rock radio has become.

Beyond the main rock radio chart, “Drag Me” made a significant move on the audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, rising 24-17. Luminate reports the song garnered 2.2 million radio audience impressions in the week ending May 7, a 17% increase — the band’s best showing on that multiformat chart, eclipsing the No. 20 peak of “Barely Breathing.”

The single also recorded a new No. 20 peak on the multimetric Hot Hard Rock Songs chart dated May 9, reflecting data from April 24-30. During that tracking window, “Drag Me” pulled in 344,000 chart-eligible streams in the United States.

“Drag Me” comes from Reflections, From Ashes to New’s fifth studio album, released April 17. The record has moved 19,000 equivalent album units to date — modest but steady numbers that, paired with the radio breakthrough, suggest the band is converting catalog momentum into mainstream airplay traction.
