Lizzo says she won’t settle the lawsuit filed by three former backup dancers, insisting she is ready to testify and that “the truth is less salacious than the headlines” as parts of the case continue in court.

Lizzo says she plans to continue fighting the lawsuit filed by three former backup dancers, arguing that the public narrative has outpaced what she says actually happened.
The lawsuit, filed in August 2023 by Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, alleges sexual harassment and a hostile work environment during their time working with the singer from 2021 to 2023. Lizzo has denied the claims.
In a new interview with CBS Mornings, she said she has no interest in settling out of court.
“I think it is an easy out, but I’m fighting the case because I know that it’s not true,” she said, adding that she is willing to testify if necessary.
“I would look fabulous while doing it,” she said. “I’m not afraid of the truth. The truth is less salacious than the headlines.”
One major element of the original complaint was dismissed in December, when a judge threw out an allegation that Lizzo fat-shamed Davis and later fired her. Lizzo later said that claim had “no merit in court.”
Other parts of the lawsuit remain active, including allegations tied to an Amsterdam outing in early 2023. Lizzo disputes all of the remaining accusations.
In October 2023, Lizzo called the lawsuit a “fabricated sob story” and filed her own motion to dismiss the case, alleging the dancers had engaged in a “pattern of gross misconduct.”
The legal fight continues as Lizzo enters a new release cycle. She is set to release her third studio album, Bitch, on June 5, and has already shared its title track, which interpolates Meredith Brooks’ 1997 hit.
The project follows 2022’s Special, an album that reinforced Lizzo’s pop positioning while leaning hard into her long-running message of self-belief and emotional resilience. The timing underscores the tension around her current moment: an artist pushing into a new era while confronting a still-unresolved case that could shape how that era is received.
In recent interviews, Lizzo has also spoken openly about her personal life, including saying she remained a virgin until winning a Grammy and that she had her first kiss at 21.
