Olivia Rodrigo played an invite-only Spotify Billions Club Live show in Barcelona before El Clásico, mixing hits, football, and fan devotion.

Olivia Rodrigo turned Barcelona’s Teatre Grec into a pre-game celebration on May 9, 2026, staging an invite-only Spotify Billions Club Live show for about 1,500 of her most devoted local fans just two days before FC Barcelona’s El Clásico clash with Real Madrid at Spotify Camp Nou. Billboard was onsite for the concert, which folded Rodrigo’s biggest streaming-era hits into a night built as much around her partnership with Barça as her status on Spotify.
The setting did a lot of the work before she even stepped onstage. Perched on the slope of Montjuïc mountain, the outdoor amphitheater was dressed up with lush scenery, Billions Club plaques, merch tied to the football collaboration, and free food and drinks outside the bowl. It was part fan event, part corporate crossfade, the sort of increasingly common music-and-sports activation that can feel overmanaged on paper but, in this case, still left room for an actual concert to happen. Rodrigo followed in the footsteps of past Spotify Billions Club Live performers including Bad Bunny and Miley Cyrus, but the scale here was smaller and more intimate, with attendees selected through their listening on Spotify, according to an early press release.
That intimacy mattered. Rodrigo has built her career quickly, and the idea of a victory-lap set for songs that have barely had time to age would have sounded premature a few years ago. Still, the show framed her rise in the simplest possible terms: she arrived with a catalog already dense with billion-stream milestones, and the crowd came ready to treat every chorus like a communal event. She performed almost all of those songs, plus a few extras, and the energy never really dropped.
Rodrigo’s appearance landed just ahead of one of the biggest fixtures on the Spanish calendar. Real Madrid and FC Barcelona were set to face off at the recently renovated Spotify Camp Nou, with Barça able to clinch the league title with a win. For the match, players will wear a special version of the club’s blaugrana jersey featuring Rodrigo’s logo in place of Spotify’s. The concert, then, wasn’t just a side event. It was part of a larger weekend image campaign built around music, sport and the kinds of global audiences both now court.
But the more lasting impression came from how plainly Rodrigo understood the assignment. She opened with “Bad Idea Right?” and closed with “Get Him Back!”, two GUTS-era songs that bookended her 2024-25 tour and festival sets as well. Neither belongs to the Billions Club, but both still functioned as anchors, reminders that her breakout has always been about more than the streaming chart logic now attached to her name. “Bad Idea Right?” started the night with a jolting, rock-leaning push, while “Get Him Back!” sent it out on a communal clap-along note, with her all-female band locked in behind her.
Midway through the set, Rodrigo paused to talk about being back in the city. Sitting cross-legged at the edge of the stage before a pair of acoustic songs with guitarist Arianna Powell, she told the crowd, “I’ve been having so much fun in Barcelona. I’m not blowing smoke, I love it. Every time I get to come here, it’s like a little vacation. You guys are the most beautiful city ever.” She also said she had been “practicing my Spanish” for the occasion and offered a grateful “Muchas gracias estar por aqui conmigo,” or, “Thank you so much for being here with me.”
The crowd, unsurprisingly, treated the whole thing like a home game. At several points the amphitheater filled with a chant of “y reina, y reina, y reina, reina, reina!” while some fans waved Olivia Rodrigo x Spotify x FC Barcelona scarves. Before “Drop Dead,” a fan handed her a flower bouquet that matched the night’s pink-heavy visual palette. Rodrigo gave it back in kind, moving through the venue during “jealousy, jealousy” and inviting different sections to sing along during “Deja Vu.” For a free show, the exchange felt unusually mutual. The audience was there to witness a career milestone, but it also made sure the scale of the moment wasn’t just industrial or promotional. It was participatory.
There was, however, one notable omission. Rodrigo has nine songs with more than a billion Spotify streams, including four that have crossed two billion, but only eight of those tracks made the Barcelona set. “All I Want,” her 2020 breakthrough from High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, was the one left out. It’s not part of her core catalog in the same way as the songs from Sour and GUTS, though she is credited as the song’s only writer, and some fans clearly expected it to surface. After the encore-like finish of “Get Him Back!,” a few people even started chanting its title anyway, as if trying to will a surprise ending into existence. Crew members were already taking down the stage.
In the end, Rodrigo delivered 14 songs in just under an hour at Teatre Grec, with eight Billions Club tracks and five others from her main catalog. It was a tight set, but not a thin one. If anything, the show underscored how quickly her biggest songs have become part of the pop landscape, and how readily they now travel across contexts, from arena tour to festival to a football-linked amphitheater above Barcelona.
