Rick Ross Dismisses Fear Around Drake’s ‘Iceman’ Release Amid Their Feud
Rick Ross downplays Drake's Iceman buzz, revisits their feud, and suggests French Montana could help mediate any reconciliation.
Rick Ross is no longer talking about Drake like the feud is some kind of irreversible blood sport, but he is still making it clear he doesn’t see any mystique around the rapper’s next move. During a Tuesday, May 12 stop at Hot 97, Ross said plainly that “Don’t nobody fear Drake’s album release,” a remark that landed just days after he had seemed to extend a softer hand toward his former collaborator.
Speaking with Nessa while promoting his Renaissance of a Boss book, the MMG boss framed the long-running conflict in a way that was more disciplinary than personal. “People would love for me to say, ‘I hate this n-a forever.’ Nah, homie, it ain’t that. When somebody step out of line and you gotta chastise them or give them a spanking, that’s what you do,” he said. “But is it one of those things where there’s a conspiracy? Hell no. Don’t nobody fear Drake’s album release. Nobody.”

Ross was also asked whether the two could ever patch things up, and he pointed to French Montana as the likeliest go-between. “Drake speaks to French. French says a lot of positive things that he should maybe send French a pecan pie for … because nobody would speak on his behalf to me,” Ross said. “But French do and that’s what I made it clear if anything was to ever come from that it would come through French because it wouldn’t directly come to Rozay.”
The comments arrive after Ross appeared to soften his stance following his Verzuz battle with French Montana. In an interview on Apple Music, he seemed to step away from taking shots at Drake, saying, “Drake, if you listening to this homie, listen to me, my n-a, shine. I don’t want to see you lose. No real n-a want to see you lose. That ain’t what about. This culture, this game, this rap this ain’t what it’s about.”
For all the public back-and-forth, the exact origin of the split still isn’t fully clear. Their relationship deteriorated in 2024 after Drake dissed Ross on “Push Ups” and Ross answered with the “Champagne Moments” diss track. Before that, though, the two had worked as a reliably potent pairing, linking up on Billboard Hot 100 records including “Money in the Grave,” “Lemon Pepper Freestyle,” “Gold Roses,” “Aston Martin Music” and “Stay Schemin.”
Drake is set to return with Iceman on Friday, May 15, his first solo album since 2023’s For All the Dogs. Whether Ross’s name comes up on it is, as ever, part of the speculation hanging over the release.
